I became a wheelchair user over 40 years ago when I was badly injured in a road traffic accident. I went on to work in the media for many years, and then retrained as a counsellor at Southampton University, qualifying in 2008. I’ve always been curious about what makes people ‘tick’, how we choose our path in life or feel that choices have been taken away from us, and how we cope with the inevitable challenges and curveballs that life throws at us.

 

My therapeutic approach is rooted in helping clients become curious about their lives and experiences, explore the roots of their difficulties, and offer a fresh perspective and new skills. For example, I build awareness of the body as a source of emotional information. 

 

I also offer training to other therapists to widen their skills and knowledge of what it can be like living with a disability. My training gives an unparalleled insight into the personal and social experience of living with a physical disability and an understanding of where some of these experiences are rooted in our culture. I am passionate about helping others find whatever brings them meaning, contentment and purpose in life.
